Halloween

We love to boo our neighbors. We also love handing out treats. This time we made special cards to hand out with the treats. Look in our past halloween posts for more ideas on booing your neighbors.

Secret Boo

M and E love secretly Booing our neighbors.
This year we made fun jars filled them with yummy candy and included a fun label provided by Centsationalgirl.com. To adhere the label after printing we used our Xyron Sticker maker.

Halloween (kick off)

Pom Poms, googly eyes and pipe cleaners make for fuzzy cute spiders.
With some simple gluing steps and using spare items or a packaged craft (available at JoAnn's) you too can make these.

Un Jouet en Papierun

This project reminded me of something you would see in a fancy Parisian toy store.
I called it a projet merveilleux pour les enfants plus ages (a great project for older children). The projects are laborious as they require precise cutting and use of exacto knife for clean cuts.

The great artist, Marilyn Scott-Waters that provides the wonderful free templates can be found at thetoymaker.com.
M and I concentrated on her Halloween projects but she has marvelous ones for all holidays as well as everyday projects. The Ghost Show as it is tittled by the artist, is a bit of a circus fun show in itself. This project was great in that it was simple, cheap and entertaining and a reminder to my girls that the simplest things can be fun too.

Yarn Ghost

So if you are looking for a fun, fast project this is it!

1) Using cardboard (I used the cardboard from a fruit snack box)cutout a ghost measuring roughly about 3" tall and 2" wide. 2) Have your child wrap white acrylic or any spare white yarn you may have around the cardboard until completely covered. 3) With black felt cut two small eyes out and glue on using fabric glue.
A completed ghost is great to use on a card, magnet or pin. Or be creative and think of something else and if you do please send us a picture so we may see your creative uses.

Large Ghost

While on a trip to Michael's the girls saw ghost that were about 11x14 and made of thin foam and of course they wanted to buy them. Both girls went on and on how cute the ghost were and how it would be so great if I just bought them. I even though not frugal when it comes to art or craft supplies do have limits. I couldn't see myself paying $5 bucks for something I could make for pennies.Through skepticism I made the girls try my way first and if they were not good enough still I told them then maybe we could talk about using their own money to buy the ghosts at Michael's. So below is our attempt and instructions.

Large white foam sheets or heavy stock card anywhere from 11x14 to 20x26,black sharpies, fishing wire and very sharp scissors.
You will need to free hand the drawing or download the template provided and enlarge it 200%.

Fishing wire is to hang the ghost from a ceiling, window or even tree. The wire is so thin it will make the ghost appear as if they are floating on air.
